The state level single window clearance authority (SLSWCA) headed by chief secretary A P Padhi cleared the proposal that would create a direct employment opportunity for around 4000 people.

"We have received the proposal of Geetanjali Exports to set up the unit during the Make in India week in Mumbai. It would be the first unit of the company in Eastern India," said Kalyan Mohanty, general manager, Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited.

Initially the unit would come up at an area of 30 acres, official sources said. Mohanty said the company has a plan to set up a gems and jewelry park at the same location by an additional investment of Rs 489 crore. After expansion, the proposed park would create direct employment opportunity for 12,000 people.
