In another step towards 'ease of doing business', the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) on Tuesday launched a mobile app for online tracking of the status of applications submitted by industry and start-up promoters for statutory clearances.

"This mobile application will enable industry promoters to know the status of their application anytime anywhere. General public can also view and download the consent order issued to any industry for their reference and use," Member Secretary, OSPCB Rajiv Kumar told reporters after the launch.

Kumar said the OSPCB developed this mobile application as part of the State's initiative towards ease of doing business. This application can be accessed by any android mobile or smart phone and tablets. This has been developed under Online Consent Monitoring and Management System or OR-OCMMS.

Senior engineer of OSPCB Nihar Ranjan Sahoo further said the mobile application has been developed with technical support from National Informatics Centre (NIC), New Delhi in two months' time.

Sahoo said the app could be installed in android mobile phone by downloading it from Google Play Store free of cost. It is a simple and efficient single screen display. The status of applications can be accessed or tracked using the industry ID, industry name or the district in which the industry is located.

Any stakeholder or the public can also view the applications, date of submission and the present status. If the application has been approved, the stakeholders can see and download the approved date and the approved/consent order.

This mobile application will make the consent management system quicker and transparent. It will also improve public accountability of the system for operationalisation of industries, Kumar said.

Launching the mobile application at the State Secretariat here, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi advised OSPCB to develop this app further for facilitating online payment of fees.

Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, OSPCB senior scientist PK Prusty, Director, Environment Devi Datta Biswal and other senior members and technical experts were present.
