Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled a 10-year-road map that aims to attract an investment of Rs 2.25 lakh crore and generate 10 lakh jobs.

"To take the state to a higher growth trajectory, the state government has strategized a new Odisha Industrial Development Plan 2025. The vision 2025 lays a 10-year-roadmap for development with transformational policies and strategies and presents a paradigm shift with the government acting as an enabler to aid industrial growth," Patnaik said during the ongoing Make in India Week at Mumbai.

"It (the state) aims to achieve a sustainable manufacturing and employment generation and intends to attract an investment of Rs 2.25 lakh crore in the five focus sectors and to generate 10 lakh jobs," he added.

The five focused sectors identified are agro and food processing especially Sea food processing, chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles, downstream and ancillary industries and ESDM (electronic system design and manufacturing) and IT/ITeS.

Patnaik said Odisha witnessed a robust economic growth of over 8% in 2014-15 and is poised to grow at 12% by 2020.

The Chief Minister added that his government has a ready- to-allot land bank of one lakh acres for industries and it will offer incentives to industries with high employment potential.

"The government has decided to set up an industrial infrastructure development study with a corpus of Rs 100 crore. The government has also decided to tap the expertise and experience of the private sector in the implementation of industrial townships and industrial parks," Patnaik added.

He further said the Odisha government is finalising a new startup policy to boost the startups and ecosystems.

"To provide a fillip to the startup ecosystem, I am dedicating 4.5 lakh sqft ready-to-move facility in Bhubaneshwar. The startup ecosystem shall be mentored and guided by the TiE Silicon valley, with which the government has a strategic partnership, the first of its kind in the country," he added.
