The State Government has set a target to produce 300 MW to 500 MW of solar energy by 2019-20. This was informed by the Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das in the State Assembly on Tuesday.
Minister Das said that Odisha has a scope to produce about 2,500 MW of solar energy. He said that the state Government is now carrying out a process of supplying solar energy through Renewable Purchase Obligation. The Energy Department has identified land through the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) to set up 150-MW solar power units, he said.
