The state-level single window clearance authority (SLSWCA) today approved investment proposals worth Rs 25,474 crore. A meeting of the single window authority chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi accorded in principle approval to 14 projects which will create job opportunities for 12,419 persons.
Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), a navratna PSU has proposed to set up a thermal power plant at Tureikela in Jharsuguda district with an investment of Rs 11,785.8 crore.
The national PSU which has been awarded two coal blocks - Talabira-II and Talabira-III - in Sambalpur district. Senior executives of NLC had visted the state last year to explore the possibility of setting up a up a pit-head power, official sources said.
The Chennai-headquartered NCL has also proposed to solar power projects in multiple locations with an investment of Rs 2,250 crore. While the proposed thermal power plant will generate employment for
1660 people, projects under renewable energy have the potential to create employment opportunity for 500 people.
Utkal Alumina has proposed to set up a metal industry at Doraguda in Rayagada district with an investment of Rs 986 crore. The project will provide employment to 3466 people out of which direct
employment to 816 people.
Pradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) has proposed expansion of the fertiliser plant with an investment of Rs 9,459.17 crore. This will create jobs for 2,667 people.
The other project proposals include, Hindalco Industries' investment of Rs 150.9 crore and Sadipali Solar's investment of Rs 121 crore under solar energy sector in Sambalpur and Bolangir districts respectively.
Grasim Industries and Jayashree Chemicals have also proposed to set up chemical plants at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district with an investment of Rs 110 and Rs 100 crore respectively. The two projects will generate employment for nearly 400 people.
The SLSWCA had sanctioned seven projects worth Rs 697 crore on January 31. These 21 industries will provide employment to around 17,500 persons. After Make in Odisha conclave in different cities, there has been remarkable progress in conversion of the intent to invest in real investment projects. Meanwhile, 33 projects with investment potential of more than Rs 29,000 crore have been mobilised and approved through the SLSWCA. All these 33 units will generate employment potential for more than 33,000 people.
