Authorization under Hazardous Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 1989
In accordance with Rule-6 of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, individuals and entities involved in handling hazardous and other wastes must obtain authorization from the State Pollution Control Board. This requirement applies to activities such as generation, collection, storage, packaging, transportation, use, treatment, processing, recycling, recovery, preprocessing, co-processing, utilization, offering for sale, transfer, or disposal of hazardous waste.

Online Authorization Application Process

To streamline the authorization process, the Odisha State Pollution Control Board has implemented an online Hazardous Waste Authorization Management system, integrated within the online consent management system since June 10, 2015. All industrial establishments, mines, recyclers, re-processors, and transporters are required to register through the following websites:
